Primarily the blog is about hikes and trails my partner and I have been on but the blog will also include activities such as photography, watersorts and music (gigs) etc. We were recently privileged to be in Yosemite National Park and did some great hikes and these will be posted in due course. I’ve just done a piece on the Upper and Lower Falls and there is also a hike included on the South Downs Way in Ken, UK.
My personal blog of places where I go hiking within Ohio. I try to include my own experiences as well as what kind of hike it is for others. Included are photos I have taken while on the hike to help enhance the visual aspect of the location. The blog has been up since late 2008.
Are you a hiker looking for your next trail? Haven’t you ever wanted to escape from the mundane life to the pastoral unblemished of the Mountains? Do you ever get the itch to adventure out to some distant peak or explore a canyon you see as you drive down the road? Trust me I have been there. I have a passion for hiking. It doesn’t matter what you see or what you do, anyone can enjoy the outdoors in one form or another. Whether you are rich or poor, young or old, every single one of us can enjoy what Utah has to offer. Utah Hiking offers hiking year round from the tops of the Uinta Mountains to the depths of Zion’s Canyon.

I came originally came to Taiwan, like so many people, with the idea that I would have a bit of fun, teach English and then 6 months down the line I’d be off.. it’s been 4 years now and I’m still here! Before coming to Taiwan, I never really had much interest in hiking but now it has developed into a bit of an obsession. I’m not at the moment entirely sure what i plan to do with this blog other than keep track of all the places i visit and perhaps give other people ideas for places to go to.

Basically to explore. The places that intrigue us are out and beyond, taking us away from the daily grind and back to the quiet freedom and adventure that is the heritage of us all.

Welcome to the Northern California Hiking Trails blog. Iʼm John Soares, co-author of 100 Classic Hikes in Northern California, third edition and author of 75 Hikes in Californiaʼs Mount Shasta and Lassen Volcanic National Park Regions, revised edition. I did a lot of tramping and trekking in the wilderness long before I wrote the books, but doing the very enjoyable research for the hiking guides took me all over Northern California, from Santa Cruz to Crescent City, and from Mokelumne Wilderness to the Warner Mountains, Mount Shasta, and the Trinity Alps. So I have a broad perspective of the region. And a deep love for it. Iʼll share that love with you.
The overall focus of this blog is foot travel, but Iʼll also examine various facets of being outdoors, from maximizing trail-time enjoyment to details of hike updates to political, economic, social, and environmental aspects of north state trails. I also examine various stories and issues of interest to hikers.
I live near Mount Shasta in the far north of the state, about 60 miles or so south of the Oregon border, and I grew up around Redding just to the south, so Iʼll talk a bit more about Lassen Volcanic National Park and the Trinity Alps, for instance. But thereʼll be plenty on the Bay Area, the coast, and Sierra Nevada, I promise.
Blogging Area: Northern California, from Monterey Bay and Yosemite all the way to the Oregon border.
