Ulster Walker is written by Keith Brownrigg an outdoor enthusiast from Helen’s Bay, Northern Ireland. The blog began in summer 2009 as a “live” blog whilst walking the 600 mile Ulster Way raising money for the Lifeboats. It continues mainly as a record of recent outdoor adventures, but also includes thoughts on music, design and anything else that I find interesting.

PDX Day Hiker is a guidebook style hiking blog
based in Portland Oregon. The site can be used for trip planning with relevant
information such as driving directions, practical hiking times and honest
difficulty ratings. Trip reports focus on hiking areas in and around Portland,
Oregon and the surrounding areas of Oregon and Southwest Washington. Jackie has

2009 and is working on uploading a back-log of hand-written hiking journals
covering 2007 and 2008.
Hiking is about exploring the unknown, the unexpected, meeting people along the way and hearing their life stories. At the same time, trying to reach a goal, a high peak and feel like on top of the world. And finally about being in constant touch with nature, enjoying this wonderful planet we live in. This blog is about an outdoorsy Brazilian girl that now lives in busy London, but never forgot about her roots close to nature and is trying to keep her passion for hiking alive.
Anthony’s Audio Journal is a blog featuring links to my audio podcast about hiking and backpacking in Southern California and the Eastern Sierra Mountain . In each episode I give a description of where I’m hiking and a little history about the area. I use a stereo recorder to capture audio along the trail and conduct interviews with folks I meet along the way. Each episode also features music and effects to make the experience entertaining.
You can find Anthony’s Audio Journal on Itunes or on my web site
In the past five years since I started solo hiking and camping, I have encountered a lot of reactions, from the awed (”I could never do that, it must be amazing”) to the critical (”that is unnecessarily dangerous and stupid, and so are you”) to the curious and interested (”aren’t you bored/lonely/scared?”). I have often wished there was some resource or guide I could have looked to for advice and encouragement, and so…Her Side of the Mountain was born. May you learn from my mistakes, failures, joys and successes.

My name – Jim. I have decided to share my journey of dramatic weight loss as I hike through the local mountains in New England. I grew up in a small town in Massachusetts where hiking trails were abundant and beautiful. Needless to say, hiking soon became a favorite activity of mine. But, like most young adults, life was moving fast and the time to enjoy the trails began to diminish. Along with the poor eating habits that developed, I began to really pack on my weight.
I wasn’t myself. I was tired, so tired. Because I really enjoy hiking, geocaching, biking, fishing, kayaking, camping and outdoor adventures, I didn’t want my weight to be an issue any more. I am inviting all of you follow my adventures and weight loss. Who knows where we’ll end up!

Hiking Lady is dedicated to women hikers who love the outdoors!
Hiking Lady was the vision of Carol Roberts, an avid hiker, backpacker, and outdoorswoman. Growing up in California helped her develop a passion for outdoor sports, the environment, and nature photography. With the desire to share her love of the outdoors and encourage others to be as passionate about hiking and backpacking as she is, Carol created a website with the goal of being a resource for all of us who love the outdoors. She provides tips and advice on choosing the appropriate “Adventure Apparel” and gear, in addition to keeping an up-to-date blog with articles of interest, events, environmental issues, book and movie reviews, organizations to join, and deals on hiking gear and apparel.

Hiking in Finland is a blog about hiking and backpacking in Finland. You can find it at http://www.hikinginfinland.blogspot.com/. The blog, run by Hendrik M. tells predominately about hiking and backpacking in Finland, but also about Norway and Sweden. You can expect a lot of photos of the Finnish nature, as well as Ultralight Gear Talk, traveling advice, introduction of Finnish trails and National Parks and MYOG projects. The blog is up since April 2009 and is updated two to three times a week. I am looking forward to your visit and comments!
Introducing a new website called Sierra Club Trails! It’s (as far as we know) the first-ever comprehensive hiking wiki…A website where anyone can post their favorite hikes and anyone else can edit the descriptions so that the trails are constantly up-to-date. The site goes lives on Thursday, July 9th.
What makes this site unique is that it’s a wiki - i.e. anyone can update or edit the trails that are posted. So if I post a trail in, say, Yosemite, and you’ve been there recently and saw that part of the trail is really muddy, or the bugs are bad this time of year, or if camping spots are getting really popular and should be reserved in advance, you can update that.
In addition to hiking and paddling trails, the site also features tips for hikers, a birding blog, photo contests, and Nature Notes, a series of audio features based on interviews with naturalists and Sierra Club Outings leaders. Sierra Club Trails is also an online community where users can create profiles and meet other hikers and nature-lovers, as well as join discussion forums with topics like the best trail mix recipe or whether guns should be allowed in national parks. Community members can form groups around a particular outdoor interest or place.
The Desert Dog Journal is my hiking and camping blog for the Desert Soutwest. While most of my posts will be about the Arizona and Tucson areas, I’ll expand it as I go. Topics will include trail reviews, hiking with a dog, trip reports, gear reviews, field craft, and anything else that may interest hikers and campers.
Thanks for checking out my site and don’t forget to leave your comments!
