Hiking 100 peaks in San Diego and writing a book about it

screenshot1

Started in June of 2009, this blog details my trip reports on summiting 100 peaks in San Diego, selected gear reviews, general outdoor news (mostly San Diego-based) and profiles on local non-profit organizations dedicated to protecting and expanding our public lands. I encourage people to get outside, promote stewardship of the outdoors and engage people in the spirit of the wilderness.

I  have traveled quite a bit and include travel reports. I am an avid photographer and include photos of everywhere I go.

Anthony’s Audio Journal is a blog featuring links to my audio podcast about hiking and backpacking in Southern California and the Eastern Sierra Mountain . In each episode I give a description of where I’m hiking and a little history about the area. I use a stereo recorder to capture audio along the trail and conduct interviews with folks I meet along the way. Each episode also features music and effects to make the experience entertaining.

You can find Anthony’s Audio Journal on Itunes or on my web site

Husky HikerMy name – Jim.  I have decided to share my journey of dramatic weight loss as I hike through the local mountains in New England.  I grew up in a small town in Massachusetts where hiking trails were abundant and beautiful.  Needless to say, hiking soon became a favorite activity of mine.  But, like most young adults, life was moving fast and the time to enjoy the trails began to diminish.  Along with the poor eating habits that developed, I began to really pack on my weight.

I wasn’t myself.  I was tired, so tired.  Because I really enjoy hiking, geocaching, biking, fishing, kayaking, camping and outdoor adventures, I didn’t want my weight to be an issue any more.  I   am inviting all of you follow my adventures and weight loss.  Who knows where we’ll end up!

Hiking Lady is dedicated to women hikers who love the outdoors!

Hiking Lady was the vision of Carol Roberts, an avid hiker, backpacker, and outdoorswoman. Growing up in California helped her develop a passion for outdoor sports, the environment, and nature photography. With the desire to share her love of the outdoors and encourage others to be as passionate about hiking and backpacking as she is, Carol created a website with the goal of being a resource for all of us who love the outdoors. She provides tips and advice on choosing the appropriate “Adventure Apparel” and gear, in addition to keeping an up-to-date blog with articles of interest, events, environmental issues, book and movie reviews, organizations to join, and deals on hiking gear and apparel.

Gambolin’ Mangambolin-man
Personal, stream-of-consciousness narrative and photo accounts of (mostly) Bay Area hiking destinations / outings . . . not so much concerned with “how to get there” and “which trail to take” but more focused on transporting you there with me, experiencing the simple and miraculous joys all around of nature’s bounty and beauty, usually undiscovered and unheralded, right in our own backyard or in front of your eyes, previously unseen or unnoticed and certainly underappreciated!

The San Francisco Bay Area, California, as well as occasional postings from the Desert Southwest

I’ve been blogging since September 2005

utahhikingAre you a hiker looking for your next trail? Haven’t you ever wanted to escape from the mundane life to the pastoral unblemished of the Mountains? Do you ever get the itch to adventure out to some distant peak or explore a canyon you see as you drive down the road? Trust me I have been there. I have a passion for hiking. It doesn’t matter what you see or what you do, anyone can enjoy the outdoors in one form or another. Whether you are rich or poor, young or old, every single one of us can enjoy what Utah has to offer. Utah Hiking offers hiking year round from the tops of the Uinta Mountains to the depths of Zion’s Canyon.
